This course explores the role of entrepreneurship in the agri-food space, including sustainable agriculture. It does this by examining what entrepreneurship is and how entrepreneurs think and act, both as new business creators and as ‘intrapreneurs’ within large organizations. It looks at the latest models and tools for fostering the startup and growth of enterprises. These concepts and tools are linked to the agri-food industry by case studies and class visits from practicing entrepreneurs. The course will also look at ways that states and local communities support entrepreneurship and the types of resources available for entrepreneurial activities.
